Bike to the Future 2008
London to Krakow Bike Ride - July 24th to August 7th 2008
- Distance: 1542 km / 950 miles
Les Niewiara who has so far survived two bouts of Pancreatic Cancer and is one of the 3% minority of people who make it through to five years after their first diagnosis has decided to take on the challenge of riding from Hammersmith Hospital, London (his treatment centre, and the finishing point for Bike to the Future 2004) to the Cloth Hall, Krakow (close to his father's birthplace) - a total distance of just over 1540 km / 950 miles, starting on July 24th and finishing on August 7th.
Les will cycle the whole distance with a core team of 3-5 people, This would be a gruelling ride for anyone and is a major challenge for Les as a man living with cancer but the rest of the team knows from past experience of Bike to the Future events that he will lead them every kilometre of the way.
Along the way, Les will be joined by many friends, relatives, work colleagues, others diagnosed with pancreatic cancer who will ride one or more of the stages. Should you want to join Les and the team on any of the stages of the ride, all you need to do is register your interest.
The total distance cycled on Bike to the Future 2008 by all the riders will contribute to the 'Ride around the World' target
